The Campbell County Fire District 1 area is being annexed and will be taken over by the Campbell Fire/Rescue District.
A joint petition on behalf of both districts was filed in the Campbell County Clerk’s Office on Feb. 28. On March 19, the Campbell County Fiscal Court held a hearing for public feedback. There were no objections to the dissolution filed in the clerk’s office or made during the public hearing.
Campbell County Fire District 1 is located at 6844 Four Mile Road in Melbourne, serving Silver Grove, Camp Springs, California and Mentor. The Campbell Fire/Rescue District is located at 7951 Alexandria Pike in Alexandria.
Campbell County Judge/Executive Steve Pendery said he would sign the executive order to make the merger official.
“All our best people have been slaving away at this for years with the concept out there, and I think it has finally come to pass that circumstances are in alignment that make this, without a doubt, the right thing to do,” Pendery said.
