Newly elected Alexandria Councilmember Shane Collins was arrested on Jan. 31 on domestic violence assault charges. Â
Collins is also facing a second charge for criminal mischief, which is the intentional damage or destruction of someone else’s property.
A pretrial conference is scheduled for March 6 at 9:30 a.m. in room D2 with District Court Judge Erin Sizemore.
Collins attended a city council meeting on Jan. 16, where he was sworn into office. He was absent from the following meeting on Feb. 6.
The city said they have no comment at this time as they cannot comment on active cases.
Collins also chose not to comment at this time.
Collins appeared in court on March 6 for a pretrial conference. He will be back in court on April 7 at 1 p.m.
