As the first order of business at Tuesday’s meeting of the Florence city council, three Florence Fire/EMS personnel received promotions to the rank of captain.

Chief Rodney Wren introduced the three firefighters who were sworn in by Mayor Julie Aubuchon.

“Tonight, I want to acknowledge some members of our department,” said Wren. “Josh Corry is a captain paramedic with Florence Fire/EMS. Josh’s hire date was Jan. 31, 2011, and he was promoted to lieutenant on Dec. 29, 2019. Now Josh is the rank of captain with Florence Fire and EMS”

“Firefighter Ricky Lang is a captain EMT for Florence Fire and EMS. Ricky’s hire date was April 11, 2011, and he was promoted to lieutenant on Sept. 8, 2019. Firefighter Brent Wuest is a captain paramedic with Florence Fire and EMS and was hired with us on March 20, 2017, and promoted to lieutenant on Dec. 29, 2019. Tonight, we would like to welcome these folks to the rank of captain.”

With that, Mayor Julie Aubuchon gave the oath of office. The families of each of the captains were on hand for the event and pinned on their badges.
