The recent death of an infant at the Little Tree Learning Center daycare in Covington, does not appear to involve anything criminal, according to a statement Covington Police released on Tuesday.
“At this time, we have not found cause to believe any crimes were committed,” the statement reads. “The daycare has fully cooperated with detectives. The investigation remains open pending a final autopsy report, which could take weeks to receive. An update will be provided if appropriate.”
Police received a call at 3:39 p.m. on Friday that a 4-month-old infant at the daycare was unresponsive. The infant was transported to St. Elizabeth in Edgewood for emergency care, where it died. Additional information on the incident was not given in the statement.
“Our hearts go out to the child’s family during this unimaginable loss,” the police statement concludes. “We ask that everyone respect their privacy as they grieve.”
