The Wilder Fire Department’s annual fish fry is being canceled due to rising costs, the department announced on Facebook.

In the post, they cited multiple economic factors, such as chronic inflation and the increased cost of food and supplies.

“The rising costs of food and supplies due to the ongoing inflation crisis have made it fiscally impractical to host the event without significantly increasing prices,” read the post. “As responsible stewards of our community’s resources, we believe it would not be fair to pass these additional costs onto you.”

While the fish fry will not happen in 2025, the fire department said they are hopeful the event can resume in the following year.
