Wayfarer Tavern in Dayton is gearing up for its official opening date next week after a successful soft opening in December.
The tavern will begin serving its bar-style pizzas on Jan. 28, along with bar snacks, salads and bar service. Wayfarer Tavern is located on the first floor of the historic Burton Building in Dayton at 635 6th Ave.
When the first floor of the building became available, founder Mike Dew, a Northern Kentucky native, said he jumped at the opportunity to give his pizza recipes a home.
Wayfarer Tavern’s pizza is a combination of “East Coast thin and crispy bar-style pizza with a Detroit-style caramelized cheese edge cut into Midwestern tavern-style squares,” per a release from the restaurant.
“The mission of Wayfarer Tavern is to bring a top-quality and unique dining environment to Dayton, Kentucky, that deepens human connection, embraces shared experiences, and inspires emotion. Our pizza is the vehicle for creating these experiences,” Dew said in the release.
Wayfarer Tavern will be open Monday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
