With a cold weather advisory in effect until Wednesday morning, several institutions throughout the region have opened up during the daytime to help people stay warm.

There are also options available for people to get nighttime shelter. Check out some places you can go to get out of the cold below.

Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky

The Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky in Covington, in addition to providing a low-barrier overnight shelter, is also providing a daytime walk-up warming center through Wednesday. Even if you’re not staying at the shelter overnight, guests can sit in the center’s navigation center during the day to stay warm. Guests are encouraged to call the shelter in advance at (859)291-4555 as space is limited.

Campbell County Cold Shelter

Put on in partnership with the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky, Campbell County and several area churches, the Campbell County Cold Shelter is slated to stay open Monday and Tuesday night to help those who need a warm place to stay overnight.

The new location is at 524 Columbia St. in Newport. Overnight guests are treated to a bed, a hot shower, coffee and snacks. Guests seeking more information should call ahead of time at (859)979-0026. Fairhaven Rescue Mission

Fairhaven Rescue Mission in Covington is opening its doors until 5 p.m. to help people shelter from the cold. Guests are welcome to come in, eat and watch TV with the staff members. Note: If a guest decides to leave, they will not be allowed back in until 5 p.m. when the organization’s evening services begin.

Florence Christian Church

Florence Christian Church’s shower ministry allows people to get warm from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day. Guests receive a hot shower, clothes, snacks, coffee and a safe place to hang out from the weather. The shower ministry is located at 300 Main St. in Florence. You can call ahead of time to check availability (859) 647-5000.

Henry Hosea House

The Henry Hosea House is a faith-based homelessness service provider known for its community meals. Located on York Street in Newport, the organization will be opening its doors to the community between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to provide a warm shelter for people who need it. The warming center will operate Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Call ahead to check availability at (859) 261-5857.
