Alexandria named March 16 as VFW Post 3205 day in the city.
Veterans of Foreign Wars, more commonly referred to as VFW, post 3205, was chartered by the National Veterans of Foreign Wars organization on Jan. 13, 1935.
According to the city’s resolution, 20 World War I and earlier wars veterans of the United States Army, Marine Corps and Navy formally petitioned to organize the post, and those veterans met all the criteria and the requirements to form and organize the post. Members of post 3205 have continued to serve the city of Alexandria for 90 years.
“Our organization really strives to work together with the community to do something a little bit better,” said 3205 Post Commander Jared Bonvell. “We want to be part of the solution and not part of the problem, and that’s continuously shown throughout our work together.”
Alexandria Mayor Andy Schabell said in his six years as mayor the city has maintained a good relationship with the post and they look forward to a good relationship for years to come.
