The Florence City Council is seeking applicants for a council seat that opened following the death of former Councilmember David A. Osborne, who died on Jan. 10.
Kentucky law grants the city council the power to appoint a city resident to the open seat. The council has some leeway in how they do this. In this case, the council is seeking applications, job interview style and is asking interested residents to submit resumes and letters of intent.
The council has 30 days from the date of the vacancy occurring to make an appointment. If they fail to do so in that time frame, the power to appoint a new council member moves to the governor.
Applicants should send their resumes and letters to City Clerk Melissa Kramer by 5 p.m. Jan. 22, 2025. Application materials can also be dropped off at the Florence Government Center on Ewing Boulevard.
