The Boone County Fiscal Court officially appointed Lisa Goetz as the new county treasurer.
On Tuesday, Nov. 19, the fiscal court voted 3-0 to hire Goetz. The news comes after former county treasurer Rob Notton’s resignation in October, who left to pursue an opportunity in the private sector.
Boone County Human Resources Director Jeff Lucas conducted a comprehensive job search that yielded 31 applicants. After two rounds of interviews conducted in conjunction with Boone County staff and elected officials, they ultimately decided to hire Goetz.
“Mrs. Goetz stands out as a leading candidate, distinguished by her strong academic background, a CPA designation and extensive professional experience in financial leadership,” Lucas said during the meeting.
Goetz, a certified financial accountant, holds a degree in accounting and business administration from Thomas More University. She’s previously held other public financial leadership positions, including for the City of Covington, Boone County School Board, and Erlanger-Elsmere Independent School Board.
In addition, she’s worked as a comptroller at Legal Aid of the Bluegrass and for private companies such as Von Lehman and Arthur Andersen Public Accountants.
“We’ve really enjoyed getting to know Lisa,” Boone County Administrator Matthew Webster said. “She was a little bit of a unicorn, with her experience and her background and what we think she’ll bring to the team. We’re excited to get her started as soon as possible.”
