Alexandria is placing a six-month moratorium on the acceptance of licenses or permits for any business that deals with the sale of vape, cannabis and alcoholic beverage products.

The moratorium is intended to be temporary while the city reviews its laws regarding vape, cannabis and alcoholic beverage products and makes any necessary changes. The moratorium does not apply to any business approved for a license on or before Oct. 1. It also will not affect the sale of existing liquor licenses.

The Alexandria City Council approved the moratorium at its meeting on Nov. 7, which is its effective date.
