Republican Mark Hart defeated independent Timothy D. Johnson for House District 78, a seat Hart has held since 2017.
Hart, a Falmouth Republican, is both a captain with Pendleton County Emergency Medical Services and a founding member of Pendleton County Search and Rescue.
Hart also worked as a paramedic and firefighter with the Lexington Fire Department, retiring as a lieutenant.
Hart is the House chair of the statutory Government Contract Review Committee responsible for legislative review of state agency memoranda of agreements and personal service contracts.
