BE NKY Growth Partnership, Northern Kentucky’s economic development corporation, has added three new community leaders to its board of directors.

BE NKY is governed by a 23-member board of directors comprised of business and community leaders who are unpaid volunteers.

“I am thrilled to welcome Cady, Julie, and Brian to the board and for Carey to continue serving as vice chair,” BE NKY Board Chair Jim Dressman said in a company press release. “Their expertise will be invaluable to the continued pursuit of our mission of opportunity and prosperity for all Northern Kentuckians.”

Cady Short-Thompson

Northern Kentucky University President Cady Short-Thompson was appointed to a three-year term by Campbell County Judge/Executive Steve Pendery and the Campbell County Fiscal Court.

Prior to her role at NKU, she served as the CEO and executive director of Breakthrough Cincinnati — a non-profit focused on educational equity.

“I love Northern Kentucky and am honored to serve our region in another capacity as a member of the BE NKY board,” Short-Thompson said in the release. “NKU has a great community partner in BE NKY, and I look forward to opportunities for collaboration and success for both organizations.”

Julie Metzger Aubuchon

Florence Mayor Julie Metzger Aubuchon was appointed by Boone County Judge/Executive Gary Moore and will serve a one-year term. She replaces Covington Mayor Joe Meyer who recently completed his one-year term.

Aubuchon previously served on Florence City Council for more than 20 years and held the position of vice mayor.

She is a board-certified optometrist, past president of the Kentucky Optometric Association and the past chair of the Northern Kentucky Health Department.

“I am thankful to Judge/Executive Moore for choosing me to serve on the BE NKY Board of Directors,” Aubuchon said in the release. “I am proud to represent the City of Florence in the wider Northern Kentucky community and excited to do my part in furthering our region’s economic development efforts.”

Brian Carr

SWECO President Brian Carr was also appointed to a three-year term by Judge/Executive Moore and the Boone County Fiscal Court.

In addition, BE NKY Board Vice Chair Carey Sanders was reappointed to another three-year term.
