Certifications from the counties’ boards of election are due to the Kentucky Secretary of State by 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9. That means today is the final day candidates can withdraw from their races.
Three candidates in Kenton County, two for the Erlanger City Council and one for Park Hills City Council, have already withdrawn as of the meeting of the county’s board of elections on Monday.
Eight candidates in Campbell County have withdrawn from the election, as well: two from Fort Thomas Independent Public Schools Board of Education, one from Newport Independent Public Schools Board of Education, one from Cold Spring City Council, one from Highland Heights City Council, one from Wilder City Council and two from the Newport City Commission. The Fort Thomas Schools, Newport Schools and Newport Commission races are no longer contested, as a result.
At least one candidate in Boone County, a Florence City Council candidate, has dropped out.
