Aviatra Accelerators, a Covington-based entrepreneurial accelerator focused on women-owned businesses, will celebrate its annual Flight Night in September.
The event “celebrates both early-stage female business owners competing for a cash prize in the pitch competition and seasoned entrepreneurs who were nominated for Aviatra’s inaugural Women Entrepreneur of the Year awards,” according to an announcement from the organization.
The competition showcases business owners who have completed Aviatra’s 10-week business fundamentals course. The winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize.
The following business owners will compete at the event:
- Sharlee Adams of Tre`s Belle by Sharlee, which offers cosmetology apprenticeships
- Libya Binford of 10-D Outfitters Ltd., which provides construction products
- Kathleen “Mimi” Borne of Mimi’s Macros, a direct delivery meal service
- Kisiah Cole of Calming Souls Massage, an in-home massage and assisted stretching service
- Jen Mahuet of Jen Mahuet Photography
- Lyndsey Paynter of Paynterly Illustration, a subscription-based art therapy network
- Laurkita Sheffield of Sheffield Accounting and Financial Services, which provides accounting and bookkeeping services
- Kerry Taft of Taft Systems, an automated business software platform
- Lori Wall of Spanish on the Fly, which offers Spanish classes for children, adults and businesses
Aviatra will also issue its annual Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in five categories: health, technology, for-profit businesses focused on community impact, entrepreneurs under the age of 23 and the overall Award.
The event will take place on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at 20th Century Theater in Oakley, Ohio. Learn more and buy tickets at Aviatra’s dedicated webpage.
