The Roebling Suspension Bridge will be closed later this month for a routine bridge inspection.
The inspection, according to Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 6, will take place between Aug. 19 and Aug. 26 and will require single-lane closures, with flaggers directing traffic. There are no specific time restrictions for these lane closures.
The inspection may also require a temporary sidewalk closure. One sidewalk will remain open to pedestrians at all times.
The inspection consists of a close-up, hands-on examination of the bridge’s critical parts. In the past, the bridge underwent this routine inspection every two years, with the most recent one occurring in August of 2022. Moving forward, this type of bridge inspection will be required every 12 months.
Weather permitting, the overall project has an expected completion date of Friday, Aug. 30.
