The Kenton County Detention Center and Addiction Recovery Care, an addiction treatment organization with about 30 centers throughout the commonwealth, recently announced a joint venture with the Kenton County Detention Center to manage the center’s substance abuse program and potentially establish a wrap-around facility aimed at addressing substance use disorder and mental illness in the correctional system.

Addiction Recovery Care took over the management of the Kenton County Detention Center’s Jail Substance Abuse Program on July 1. As part of the partnership, a new facility has been proposed that would offer a range of services, including inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse disorder care, medication-assisted treatment, individual and group therapy, vocational training, educational programs, family support services and aftercare planning. The plans for the facility are still in their preliminary stages and are still awaiting various approvals from the Kenton County Fiscal Court.

“This partnership underscores our shared commitment to integrating healthcare services with criminal justice initiatives, creating a supportive environment for individuals to rebuild their lives,” said Kenton County Jailer Marc Fields in a press release. “Through collaborative efforts with Kenton County Fiscal Court and local stakeholders, we aim to ensure the success and sustainability of this vital project.”
