Walton City Council voted to institute a moratorium on new construction in the Walton water and sewer service area during a Tuesday evening meeting.
The suspension goes into effect immediately, and will allow Walton to improve the capacity of its water distribution and wastewater treatment systems.
“The ball is already rolling on getting those projects approved,” said councilmember Dan Martin. “Growth is happening so quickly, that right now our water and sewer can’t keep up. We want to grow.”
