Richard Robbins, a Villa Hills police officer, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and other traffic violations in late May in Grant County.
The incident report states that a caller complained to the Kentucky State Police around 9:30 p.m. on May 25 in Williamstown. The caller reported a vehicle driving in the wrong lane and running another vehicle off the road. Officers located Robbins driving a Chevy Silverado while towing a white Baretta boat.
Officers gave Robbins several sobriety tests, some of which suggested impairment. Two breathalyzer tests yielded a blood alcohol content of .093 and .088; the legal limit to drive in Kentucky is .08.
Kentucky State Police will be handling the investigation of the incident. According to the Villa Hills Police Department’s website, Robbins is still employed by the department, although he was off duty when he was arrested.
Robbins’ arraignment is scheduled for July 9.
