Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman announced Thursday that 51 organizations across Kentucky were awarded over $12 million in grant funding from the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission.

Five organizations with operations in Northern Kentucky received over $1 million in grants.

Earlier this month, the commission voted to approve the grant awards after considering more than 160 applications seeking over $85 million. The commission is responsible for distributing the Commonwealth’s share of nearly $900 million recovered in opioid settlements.

“Through this grant process, we’ve had the opportunity to see firsthand the extraordinary work being done to save lives in Kentucky,” Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission Executive Director Chris Evans said in a press release. “I’m grateful to the Commission members and staff for their dedication and partnership that will promote real recovery across this Commonwealth.”
