Calvary Christian School, a educational ministry administered through Calvary Baptist Church in Covington, broke ground on a new educational wing last week. Called the Sandy Butler Educational Wing after one of the school’s kindergarten teachers, the new wing will host a variety of amenities for the staff and students of the school.
“The Sandy Butler Educational Wing represents not only a physical expansion of our campus but also a profound commitment to Christian education in the Northern Kentucky Area,” said Bill Dickens, headmaster of Calvary Christian School. “We extend our heartfelt thank you to Miss Sandy Butler for her tireless dedication.”
The new wing will feature the following additions:
- A second gymnasium with its own entrance
- 10-11 additional classrooms
- Two additional sets of restrooms (one set accessible from the new gymnasium and athletic fields)
- An upgraded main entrance
- A concession area (accessible from the gym or the athletic fields)
- A welcoming courtyard in front of the main entrance
- An updated and more secure elementary playground area
- A large multipurpose meeting room
- A weight room
- Additional school parking (approximately 50 additional spaces)
- Additional storage
Calvary Christian School was founded in 1974 and will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year. Its student body pulls from more than 80 churches.
