The Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky, a low-barrier homeless shelter in Covington, reported on its social media pages that the number of adults using their on-site laundry and shower services has nearly doubled since last year.
“Last year at this time (from July 1, 2022 – April 30, 2023), the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky 350 adults visited the Daytime Navigation and Engagement Center for a total of 2,121 showers and/or laundry services,” the announcement reads.
“So far this year, in the same reporting time frame, (7/1/23 – 4/30/24) the number of adults visiting has nearly doubled to 639, and shower and/or laundry services have more than doubled to 4,441.”
