The Kenton County Planning Commission unanimously approved a public facilities review for a new Taylor Mill firehouse slated to be constructed on roughly two acres of land on Taylor Mill Road during its meeting Thursday. The firehouse would be roughly 12,000 square feet and have nine off-street parking spaces and 23 existing shared spaces. It would also feature space for truck maneuvering.

Government agencies, such as fire departments, are not subject to zoning regulations, but the county’s planning and development professionals can still make recommendations. In this case, the county’s staff recommended a 15-foot front setback, the installation of a buffer between the firehouse and nearby residential property, and additional lighting on the site.
