Villa Hills Chief of Police Matthew Hall announced a date and route for an inaugural race in memory of Cole and Chase Fischer, who died in a jet ski accident on Lake Cumberland in July last year.

The Chase and Cole Memorial 5K Run and Walk will be held on June 22 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Hall said that he designed the race route with minimal disruptions for residents in mind. With the help of the Chief of Police, the Villa Madonna students who spearheaded the event–Tommy Wenning, Adam Kolar and Sydney Short–will notify residents who live along the race’s path of the possible impacts of the event as race day approaches.

The race is slated to begin and end at Villa Madonna High School.

Chase Fischer, 18, was a recent graduate from Villa Madonna Academy. Cole Fischer, 14, had just finished eighth grade at the school and was preparing to go to Elder High School.

Wenning, Kolar and Short initially pitched the idea of the race to honor the Fischer brothers at a Villa Hills City Council meeting in January. According to the race’s website, proceeds from donations and sponsorships will go to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati.

“These kids have done a wonderful job of creating and fostering a memory of their friends,” said Hall at Villa Hill City Council’s monthly meeting Wednesday evening.
