The Covington City Commission heard a contract proposal for improvements to the equipment and shelter at Austinburg Park at their meeting Tuesday. The proposal was put on the consent agenda for the legislative meeting on Feb. 27, meaning it’s likely to pass.
The park improvements have been in the works since 2021, and Ben Oldiges, Covington’s manager of parks and recreation, laid out the goals for the improvements to the city commission in September. The city recently finished improvements to the sidewalks along the park.
The new round of improvements have a preliminary price tag of about $133,000. The improvements will be paid for with federal Community Development Block Grant funding.
