The Ludlow Fire Department recently installed a Safe Haven Baby Box at 234 Oak St.
According to Safe Haven Baby Boxes, the box is a designated location where parents can anonymously and safely leave an infant they are unable or unwilling to care for. The process involves opening the box’s secure door and placing the baby inside. Once the door is shut, a sensor alerts the department to retrieve the baby.
The department is holding a blessing of the box on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 4 p.m.
