The 2023 Alexandria Beautification Award for best Christmas/Winter yard was awarded to a house that gets letters to Santa.
Alexandria residents Garrett Haynes and Mary Banks won the award and were given their certificate and a yard sign Thursday evening. Part of their Christmas display includes a mailbox where kids can drop off letters to Santa and receive a letter back.
“I enjoy it,” Haynes said. “I say do it for the kids, but really it’s for me. I’m really big on Christmas letters. We always post on Facebook for children to drop letters, and they always receive something back from Santa.”
