Campbell County is selling Morscher Park to Silver Grove for $1.

The sports complex located at 4800 Mary Ingles Highway in Silver Grove will remain a public park, with Campbell County requiring that the deed restrictions stay in place with the sale of the park. The county is selling the park to Silver Grove for $1 so that the city can enact new ideas for the land that will begin in the new year.

Silver Grove Community and Economic Development Director Bob Yoder is heading the project and said that the back half would remain soccer fields, with plans to develop the front into an arboretum.

The sports complex currently houses the YMCA Youth Soccer Program and the Newport Central Catholic High School Varsity baseball and soccer teams. Campbell County Administrator Matt Elberfeld said the existing leases at Morscher Park for sports will transfer to the city.

“They’re willing to take those on, so none of the users of the park will be kicked out as part of this transaction,” Elberfeld said.

Yoder said there is no timeline for the changes at this point. They will start on design and fundraising in 2024.

“I think it’s appropriate that this piece of land be put into full use, and I’m pretty happy to see this,” Campbell County Commissioner Brian Painter said.
