Mann Elementary School student Simran Lad delivered a first-place entry in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Adopt-a-Highway art contest.

The “Can it, Kentucky” entry in the age 5 to 8 bracket captured top honors, promoting the theme of keeping roadsides free of litter, officials said.

There were nearly 900 art entries statewide from students ages 5 to 18 and more than 400 submissions from schools across KYTC District 6, officials said.
