The city of Bellevue awarded $453 each to three local school art departments at its Nov. 8 council meeting. The money will help pay for art supplies for Grandview Elementary, Bellevue High School and Holy Trinity School.

The city raised the money through its annual Art in the Park event. The city asked people to donate items to be auctioned off, and the proceeds would go to school art supplies. Event participants could also donate directly.

Mayor Charlie Cleves congratulated the schools and, with the help of Bellevue’s Mayor for the day Braylon Gross, handed checks to art teachers representing the three schools: Greta Kelley for Grandview; Heather Foster for Bellevue High School and Amanda Wilson for Holy Trinity.

Art in the Park is held in Bellevue’s Thomas J. Wiethorn Memorial Beach Park in early September each year.
