Pendery Park is receiving a new ADA-accessible playground to replace the 30-year-old playset.
The new playground will offer equipment to challenge and provide play opportunities for children ages 5 to 12 of all abilities.
The Campbell County Fiscal Court voted Wednesday to accept a proposal from Midstates Recreation for $190,874. The cost of the playground is included in the fiscal year 2024 budget.
The makeup of the new equipment will be similar to what was put in at AJ Jolly Park in September, with a poured-in-place rubber base but with a slight design change.
“The inclusive playground that we built at Jolly has been very well received, so we wanted to do another one of those at Pendery,” Campbell County Administrator Matt Elberfeld said.
Elberfeld said the goal is to have the playset finished next summer.
