Dagmar Morales, a programmer with the Independence branch of the Kenton County Library, was recently honored with a PBS Kids Award for her work with children and families in the local community.
One of 14 national honorees, Morales was “selected for the national award owing to her commitment to children and families in Northern Kentucky and her efforts to create effective events and workshops that reach out to Spanish-speaking families,” said a recent press release.
Morales instituted a variety of programs at the Independence branch in an effort to connect the community’s Spanish-speaking families with educational resources, including her Spanish Storytime sessions, which incorporate PBS Kids programming.
“Once I started doing programs for the Spanish-speaking community, I found a purpose that guides me in the professional and personal aspects of my life,” Morales said.
