Countless retired law enforcement officers are visiting Washington D.C., on the fourth and final Honor Flight of this year out of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

The Oct. 17 trip will include visits to the World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, Iwo Jima, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the US Air Force Memorial, and other Washington D.C. sights.

Honor Flight Tri-State’s mission is to fly veterans over the age of 65 who served stateside or overseas to their memorials in Washington, D.C. at no cost. All veterans traveling on this flight are from the Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and southeastern Indiana area.

Attendees will be on an American Airlines chartered flight, with each veteran accompanied by a guardian. The flight will depart CVG at 7:40 a.m. It will be preceded by bagpipes from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department and special remarks on the third floor of the rental car facility, all beginning at 5:45 a.m.

The return flight to CVG will arrive at 8:35 p.m. Members of the public are invited to attend the large welcome home celebration on the third floor of the rental car facility around 9:00 p.m.
