It’s been a busy season for the Park Hills Police Department. During Monday night’s council meeting, Police Chief Cody Stanley gave council members an update on how things are going.
Stanley has been working seven days a week following the retirement of one of his officers. Council member Pamela Spoor thanked him for all the extra hours he put in.
“We appreciate your dedication and service. It’s important in a small city like this, it’s really important,” said Spoor.
Officer Eric Love is Stanley’s newest hire. He joined the department at the end of September.
“He [Love] is a retired officer,” said Stanley. “He was working for Ludlow. He was highly recommended. It was fairly quick. One thing led to another, and he decided to come work for us. He’s very motivated and happy to be here.”
The new addition comes on the heels of the police department’s move to the new city services building at 1502 Dixie Hwy. Stanley said his department finalized the move during the first week of August.
“I think the new space has made the officers very happy,” said Mayor Kathy Zembrodt.
In May, council members voted to authorize Zembrodt to purchase the property for $300,000 with cash from the city’s general fund.
The office building is 2500 square feet with a .85 lot space. Dedicated parking is available, and the building’s meeting capacity is 70 people.
Financial advising company Edward Jones currently rents one part of the building. Stanley said the company’s lease is up next year. For now, Park Hills Police occupies about two-thirds of the property.
