The Kentucky Department of Transportation, District 6 will begin overnight road work on I-71/I-75 southbound in Kenton County near the Brent Spence Bridge beginning on Monday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m.
The work will take place over the subsequent five nights between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. and is expected to conclude on Friday, Oct. 27, weather permitting, according to a recent announcement from the cabinet.
Various lane and exit closures will take place throughout the work, and drivers who frequent the area during those hours should plan accordingly. The cabinet will make announcements about which lanes will close on their social media pages prior to the work taking place. Signs will also be posted around the area, warning drivers of the work.
The following exits will be affected:
- The on-ramp from KY 8 (West Fourth Street) to I-71/75 southbound will remain open; however, this exit ramp traffic will continue in the right lane to the U.S. 25 (Pike Street/12th Street/MLK Jr. Blvd) exit. The left lane of this collector-distributor system on to I-71/75 southbound will be closed, and motorists will be required to take the Pike Street exit. Motorists will be able to continue straight on Bullock Avenue, which will then take them to I-71/75 southbound.
- The I-71/75 Texas Turnaround will remain open.
- The off-ramp from I-71/75 southbound to Pike Street/12th Street/MLK Jr. Blvd (exit 191) will be CLOSED. Motorists can detour by taking I-71/75 southbound to KY 1072 (Kyles Lane), to I-71/75 northbound.
