Florence police, fire departments welcome new personnel

The Florence Police Department is joining Florence/EMS in welcoming new personnel to respective folds. 

Florence Mayor Julie Aubuchon administered oaths to three Florence police recruits and four Florence/EMS members during Tuesday’s Florence City Council meeting. 

  • Brandon Brockman – Police Officer 
    Walton native and 2011 Walton-Verona High School graduate, possesses nine years of workforce experience.
  • Ryan Fox – Police Officer 
    Burlington native and 2017 Cooper High School graduate, served 3.5 years in U.S. Army.
  • Joseph SmallwoodPolice Officer 
    Fountain, Kentucky native and 2012 Pendleton County High School graduate who then entered the workforce. 
  • Josh AbdonFirefighter/EMT
    Joined the fire service in 2007 as a volunteer in East Enterprise, Indiana
  • Nathan BeldenFirefighter/Paramedic
    Union native joined the fire service in 2018 as a volunteer
  • Collen KimFirefighter/EMT
    Began his fire service career as a Southgate Fire Department volunteer 
  • Patrick WhalenFirefighter/Paramedic
    Joined the fire service in 2010 with the Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department

“I’d like to welcome our four newest members to the Florence Fire/EMS,” Florence Fire Chief Rodney Wren said. 

Aubuchon expressed gratitude for the first responder additions.  

“We want to thank all of the families for sharing your loved one with us,” Aubuchon said. “It truly is a family here in the city of Florence. Hats off to these gentlemen. We’re excited to have you aboard.”
