A Campbell County woman purchased a Kentucky Lottery scratch off ticket at an Alexandria Pike Shell station on Labor Day and thought she had won $500.

“I scratched the first number, and it said I won $500,” she said. So, I figured that was my prize and put the ticket back in my purse.”

It wasn’t until she finished scratching off the rest of the ticket that she realized she had actually won $50,000.

“I saw I had won more, and I had a few choice words I shouldn’t say,” said the woman, who wished to remain anonymous.

She went to the lottery headquarters the next day, according to a press release, and walked way with a check for $35,750 after taxes.
