The city of Fort Thomas will add a second school resource officer, referred to as an SRO, and the cost will be shared with the local school district.

At their Aug. 21 meeting, the Fort Thomas City Council approved a municipal order to add the second officer and to authorize Mayor Eric Haas to enter into an agreement with the Fort Thomas Independent Schools to pay half the SROs’ salaries.

Officer Zac Rohlfer, who has been the department’s SRO for six years, will continue in his position.

The Fort Thomas Police Department also has a vacancy for a police recruit, said Chief Casey Kilgore. Information is on the Fort Thomas city website.
