The Florence Police Department is participating in the impaired driving national enforcement campaign “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” through Sept. 4., officials said.

The department said in a Facebook post that while patrol units regularly look for traffic violations, additional police officers will be on the roadways seeking impaired or buzzed drivers.

The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” initiative highlights a constant police presence searching for drunk drivers as a way of deterring people from drinking and driving, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.
