Carlos Santiago is joining the Boone County Animal Care and Control Department as an assistant veterinary technician.
“He is actually a vet,” Boone County Human Resources Director Lori Zombek said. “He received his license outside of the (United) States, so he’s working toward becoming licensed in the States.”
The county has struggled to fill the licensed veterinary technician position and Santiago will greatly aid the department, Zombek said.
“He’s going to be a huge asset and really up our ability to do some things over in the animal shelter and support those vet techs and our veterinarians,” Zombek said. “This is a great fit for us right now.”
