Boone County Water Rescue recovered the body of what appears to be a victim of drowning in the Ohio River early Monday morning, according to a press release from the rescue team.
The male victim had disappeared in the water between the Newport Hooters boat dock and the banks of the Ohio River on the Kentucky side around 11 p.m. Saturday.
“BCWR Boat 219 arrived on scene and started visual and sonar searches. Due to the large amount of debris underwater in the area the subject wasn’t located until 6:20 a.m. on Aug. 7.”
The victim was transferred to the Campbell County Coroner’s office upon discovery. No other identifying details, including the victim’s name, have been released.
