Alexandria approved the next set of streets to be repaired at its meeting Thursday evening.

The roads up for repairs include Apple Blossom Lane, Stonegate Drive, Clearmeadow Drive, Hunters Hill Drive, Gilbert Ridge Road, Lake Park Drive and Shadow Wood Court.

Lake Park Drive, Shadow Wood Court, Stonegate Drive, Clearmeadow Drive, and Hunters Hill Drive each have a $3,000 early completion incentive, according to council member and public works chair Tom Baldridge. He said those streets are expected to be completed in November. The others — Apple Blossom Lane and Gilbert Ridge Road — will be in the spring of 2024.

Alexandria Mayor Andy Schabell clarified that Apple Blossom Lane’s project is being pushed back because the water district is installing a new water line.

“If we finish that in November, they’re just going to come in and tear it right up,” Schabell said. “So, we’re going to wait until they get their line in, and then we will fix that in the spring.”

Street repairs include concrete and asphalt milling, spot curb repairs and asphalt pavement surface with fiber reinforcement.

The total for the repairs came in at a bid of $490,900 by Riegler Blacktop, just under the engineer’s estimate of $513,400. The city had another offer come back from Eaton Asphalt for $538,756.

According to council member and finance chair Stacey Graus, the city had budgeted $650,000 for these projects, so they are “well within” budget.

“Riegler Blacktop—we’ve had a lot of contracts out with Riegler,” Graus said. “From my understanding, we’ve not had any problems.”

Cost breakdowns for each road project, according to Riegler Blacktop are:

  • Apple Blossom Lane: $118,897
  • Stonegate Drive, Clearmeadow Drive, Hunters Hill Drive: $161,980
  • Gilbert Ridge Road: $73,197
  • Lake Park Drive, Shadow Wood Court: $136,825
