Thanks to a recent grant, Boone County is getting new recycling equipment that bolsters its current program.
“In preparation of the fiscal year 2024 recycling grant submittal, Boone County elected to request the purchase of a drum woodchipper to support the county’s mulch recycling program,” Boone County Assistant County Administrator/County Engineer Rob Franxman said.
The request was ultimately approved, and bids were received on July 13, Franxman said.
The Boone County Fiscal Court approved the $97,735 purchase during its July 25 session.
“Southeastern Equipment (Company) was the only bid submitted and it included a 140 horsepower Carlton Woodchipper weighing approximately 10,000 pounds, with the capacity to chip up to a 15 inch diameter,” Franxman said.
Because the woodchipper’s price is below the $150,000 grant award amount, the remaining grant funding could potentially be used for other recycling equipment, Franxman said.
