The Boone County Fiscal Court has approved a part-time hire to help address its emergency dispatcher shortage.
Samuel Shoup has been added to the public safety communications staff.
“Sam used to work for us as a full-time (dispatcher),” Boone County Human Resources Director Lori Zombek said. “He is still working a full-time job and he reached out to us. This is a great solution to fill some spots, give some people some breaks, so we’re really pleased to bring Sam back.”
The Public Safety Communications Center has seven emergency dispatcher vacancies, in addition to one supervisor vacancy. There are three emergency dispatcher candidates presently in testing, and there are ten interviews with other candidates scheduled this week, Zombek said.
“We are hopeful that we are going to fill those spots,” Zombek said. “We’re getting closer every day.”
