The Boone County Fiscal Court has appointed Matthew Dowling as deputy county administrator for the judge/executive office.
“The deputy county administrator position will backfill my current role, with the primary focus on supervision and development of county departments; representing the county at various boards, meetings and events; and will be charged with overseeing projects, managing initiatives and implementing strategic programs for the county,” Assistant County Administrator Matthew Webster said.
Dowling presently serves as Elsmere City administrator, having served in that role for more than six years, and before that, served as Union City administrator, Webster said.
County officials conducted a public search that produced 60 applicants for the position. Six candidates were invited to participate in the formal interview, and two candidates transitioned to finalists and participated in individual meetings and group interviews, Webster said.
“He (Dowling) has strong connections across the region, has a solid reputation and excellent experience,” Webster said.
