Crescent Springs City Council voted unanimously Monday to change the name of the bridge on Buttermilk Pike Road in honor of a beloved local business owner who died in September of 2022.
Michael Scott Wilson, known as ‘Bubba,’ died at age 56. The council attempted to pass this resolution last month, but the Wilson family needed time to decide if they wanted the motion to proceed.
“I received a letter from Bubba’s mother, Rose, saying she was supportive of this measure,” Mayor Mike Daugherty said.
Wilson was a co-owner of Crescent Springs Hard Ware, one of the first four businesses in Crescent Springs.
With the passing of this motion, the city will ask Kentucky Senators to officially name the bridge the Michael Scott “Bubba” Wilson Bridge at the next meeting in which memorials are considered.
