Boone County Schools will soon dispose of special education records for students who graduated between May 2018 and May 2020.
The disposal date is marked for Friday, Sept. 1. The district made the announcement in a public notice, which said the records being disposed relate to graduates’ “identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of Special Education in the district.”
State and federal laws require schools to maintain records for three years after special education students graduate or stop receiving services from the district (those services end when the student completed the program, moves away or turns 22).
Those wishing to retrieve their or their student’s records can contact Linda Moore in the Student Services Division via email at linda.moore@boone.kyschools.us.
