Two Villa Hills teens were killed in a boating accident in Pulaski County Friday afternoon, Pulaski County Coroner Clyde Strunk told LINK nky.
The collision, between a jet ski and a speedboat, happened at about 12:45 p.m. Friday near the Big South Fork of Lake Cumberland, just south of Woodson Bend Boat Dock near Bronston, according to the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, which is investigating the incident.
The teens who were killed were 14 and 18, Strunk said, and were riding the jet ski at the time of the collision.
“The boat involved in the incident transported two occupants from the personal watercraft to shore, where Somerset-Pulaski County EMS rendered aid,” the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources said in a release. “The Pulaski County Coroner pronounced both individuals dead at the scene. Both bodies are being transported to the State Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy.”
Strunk told the Commonwealth Journal that while speed may have been a factor in the collision, no alcohol was involved.
