The City of Edgewood used a 2023 workers’ compensation grant to improve an ambulance, in addition to funding programs and services that reduce liability and make the city safer, according to Mayor John Link.
The League of Cities awarded the grant — the group has awarded over $6.3 million in safety and liability grants since 1999.
The improvements to the ambulance were an automated lift stretcher and chair.
“The addition of these two pieces will help reduce back, shoulder, and other injuries for our medics and create a safer transport for patients,” Link said. “The grant helped reduce the cost of the equipment, minimize workers’ compensation claims, and lower our future insurance premium.”
