The city of Florence has named the week of May 21 through May 27 National Public Works Week.

At Tuesday’s special meeting, Florence Mayor Julie Metzger Aubuchon read a proclamation to show the city’s appreciation for their work in the community.

“Public Works professionals focus on infrastructure facilities and services that are of vital importance to sustainable and resilient communities and to the public health, high quality of life, and well-being of the people of Florence,” Metzger Aubuchon read from the proclamation.

Metzger Aubuchon said at the meeting that this year is the 63rd annual National Public Works Week, named by the American Public Works Association.
